1. What’s one nail tech confession you’ve been keeping to yourself?

I can tell what clients do with their hands by the smell when I’m filing them. 🫣🤭

2. What’s your biggest nail tech pet peeve that you’ll never stop talking about?

When clients are so indecisive and keep changing their minds mid-service. 😂

3. If you could only keep 3 Madam Glam products in your kit, which ones would you choose?

XOXO, No Wipe Top Coat, and the Long Liner Brush.

4. You created your very own Madam Glam bundle! What inspired your picks, and why are these products a must-have for you?

Perfect Black and Perfect White are must-haves because they’re so versatile. They can be bold standalones or paired with other colors to create endless designs. XOXO is the best because it’s the PERFECT nude for every skin tone. Northern Lights Cat Eye adds just the right amount of excitement, whether you’re going for galaxy vibes or dark unicorn mysteries. 5. What’s the most unexpected nail request you’ve ever received from a client?

Rainbow aura snake-skin nails! 🌈🐍

6. As a black-owned nail salon, what inspired you to build a space of your own, and what does that mean to you?

My mother is the reason for all of this. She taught me the nail game before I even thought about going to school or opening my own salon. Watching her in her salon and seeing her clients enjoy their nails, conversations, and time together made me want to be part of something great. I wanted to set trends and create a space of my own, just like my mom. It means everything to me to step into her shoes and continue what she started while creating beautiful art on tiny canvases.

7. What’s one thing you wish you knew before becoming a nail salon owner?

I can’t lie, I’ve been preparing for this for a very long time, so there’s not much I didn’t know thanks to researching and talking to my mentors. I will say, no matter how much you save before becoming an owner, it’s probably not enough! So make sure you budget accordingly.

8. Where do you find inspiration when you want to create something completely different from what’s trending?

I don’t follow trends too much, but I do enjoy seeing the work of my fellow creators in the industry, such as KreationsByKiki, NailsByHirsch, MJNailz, and Courtney Cantwell. Honestly, most of my inspiration comes from my inner artist. I love to paint and color, and I love everything bright and dopamine-style. So, for the most part, I just let that creativity flow.

9. What’s one thing you’d love to see more of in the beauty and nail industry when it comes to representation and inclusivity?

I’d love to see nail education become more affordable. Too many aspiring techs can’t afford school but still want to be great in this industry. As a result, some may enter the industry without proper education or credentials, which can lead to unsafe practices for both techs and clients. And pricing! Nail techs shouldn’t get the short end of the stick when it comes to what we charge. If the credentials are there, the quality is good, and the retention is excellent PAY US!
