Maria MGLEARN TO CREATE NAIL ART, ONE COURSE AT A TIME!
MADAM GLAM Academy offers online training to beginners or trained nail technicians that are looking to build on their existing skills, using the latest product technology and techniques!
On the first episode, we will learn more about your Nail Instructor— Lauren Hoehn! She will make sure that everyone who joins our Academy will be fully supported whatever career steps they may choose to make, promises loads of fun and glamorous tips & tricks!
MG: Hi Lauren! Please, tell us about yourself so people will get to know you better.
My name is Lauren and I grew up in Maryland, but have lived in Florida for the past 5 years. I am completely obsessed with all things nails and have been for most of my life!
MG: What made you choose a career in nails?
I have always been artistic and minored in Art in College and then I went on to get a PHD in Distance Education. It was not until after my kids were grown that I began a career in the Nail Industry. I owned a franchise nail salon for a little while, and then went on to get licensed myself. I have been a licensed Nail Technician for 2 years.
MG: What was the hardest part of getting where you are today?
The hardest part for me was deciding to go to school ( again ) to get my license. It made sense, as I was always painting my nails and all the friends and family who would let me. I’m glad I decided to do it and I probably should have added it to my degrees 20 years ago.
MG: What is a Nail Technician?
A nail technician is a person who cares for a client's nails. I tend to treat them as ten tiny canvases for creativity.
MG: How do you figure out your worth as a nail technician?
Tough question - I believe whatever you do is a journey. You need to believe in yourself for others to believe in you. If you love what you do, that enthusiasm will radiate and be contagious to those around you.
MG: How can people sign up for the “Academy”?
You will be able to sign up for courses for the Academy on the Academy's Website.
MG: What should people expect when they will join Madam Glam’s Academy?
You should expect to have fun and to learn some new skills and techniques when attending an Academy Class. There will be a variety of classes from foundation basics, as well as nail art classes. The classes will be available to all and it will be a fun place to learn a new skill or “ look”.
MG: What education or skills are needed to do this?
All skill levels are welcome to take courses. You will find a range of classes from beginner to advanced art. Tips and tricks and best practices will be taught in each class!
MG: How long does it take to complete the program?
Most classes should be around an hour long.
- It will be a positive place to learn.
- There will be a variety of classes for all skill levels and new classes will be added frequently.
- Learning new techniques and skills is fun. It will build your confidence and if you are a licensed nail technician you can charge more for art on the nails.
MG: How has the industry changed over the course of the past decade?
The Nail Industry has changed so much in the past 10 years and Nail Art has become more popular than ever before. With the quality products that are now available for nails, the possibilities are quite endless for that perfect manicure.
MG: What is some advice you’d give to young creatives looking to become nail technicians?
If you are thinking about becoming a nail technician, I would say you should go for it! Investigate schools in your area and be sure you know the requirements for the state in which you reside. It is a skill and license you can have for the rest of your life!
