MG: Please tell us a bit about yourself, so we can get to know you!
I am a licensed nail tech of 7 years, but I have been a nail enthusiast for over 10 years! I am an animal advocate and that has always drawn me to Madam Glam’s products aside from their amazing quality. Besides being a nail tech, I am a canvas artist, singer, baker and mother. My daughter is one of my best inspirations!
MG: Tell us how you come to the Nail Sphere?
It started when I was trying to match my nails to my dress for my high school graduation party and I just didn’t have the right color, so I searched for ideas on YouTube. Once I saw all the amazing nail creations, I was hooked and knew I had to explore all the options.
MG: What inspired you to start your Instagram and Youtube Nail Art accounts? Which platform do you enjoy most?
I prefer to look for inspiration from instagram because I feel there are many more artists on instagram than YouTube. However I love sharing my own art on YouTube more because I create detailed tutorials and YouTube is the best place to learn from that format.
MG: How do you choose the way of nail modeling? What are the guide points?
Hand positioning: Keeping your fingers in a relaxed and simple pose. Choosing something somewhat natural with minimal props for the nail is the focus.
Planning: I always start with a simple concept, such as flowers or a color. Then I like to decide on the styling; bold, elegant, geometric, abstract? Once you have a style, go through and choose accent colors that help convey the style/emotion you want.
MG: Where do you take inspiration from when it comes to your nails and the videos you create? We see a lot of fun characters on your nails!
My daily life is full of inspiration. I love anything Disney and there are so many different characters to choose from! I also really enjoy making miniature food designs, even though they always make me hungry.
MG: What is your design process for creating the nails? What are the most important steps?
Once the most crucial steps in creating eye catching designs is choosing the background color to go behind the focal point. I love choosing a complimentary color to create some contrast. After my background is created I work on 3D elements with acrylic and go back to my gels to add some details.
MG: How long can these beautiful 3D Nail Art manicures be worn?
I have worn some 3D art for 2+ weeks, but for me anything too crazy or delicate should be worn for a very short amount of time. I like to turn my 3D/4D nail art creating into jewelry to make them useful even when they aren’t on my nails anymore.
MG: If you were to choose between complex hand-painted Nail Art and a regular manicure, what would you pick?
Complex every time! Challenging designs are so satisfying to wear, you get to glance down at your hand and be reminded of your accomplishment.
MG: What are the top nail trends this season and what do you predict for the next?
This season I have seen many designs with Abstract French Tips. Neon colors accenting a simple nude. There has also been an increase in animal print, a favorite of mine! I would predict a change towards a more elegant styling, even in nail shapes you see more almond and around, versus coffin and square. I would expect a type of simplicity in art with maybe just a few nails in a set designed, instead of all 10.
MG: Which is your favorite MG collection?
That such a tough one! The "Perfect Collection" will always be a favorite of mine because the colors are so versatile and lend themselves to art very well. They are also so pigmented and that makes them great for adding in painted details in a single coat.
MG: We are seeing more and more nail passionate and nail techs that are joining Youtube. Do you have any tips for starting to get real traffic?
Create your own style, be true to yourself. Corny? Yes! However, it is true. There are 100s of videos on the same topic/design, so do something different. Experiment and explore your own style!
